Imperial Officials roam about and collect taxes from all of your buildings to fund the Chinese government's gold mines. As far as I can tell, they all play a little bit differently distinct technology, troops, and landmarks are fantastic for creating an identity that evokes their historical inspiration and varied up how you optimize your economy. There wasn't enough new content for six of the eight playable factions in this game. In spite of Relic's reluctance to speak about naval combat before to the game's release, naval combat is well-developed and makes island landscapes an exciting possibility in and of itself.
